How to know if your hoverboard has Bluetooth
Hoverboards are a fun way to get about on two wheels, powered by battery, but to really max out the experience, choose a model with Bluetooth capability and you’ll be able to play music through built-in speakers.
Once the Bluetooth on your hoverboard has been activated, you won’t have to switch it on manually every time you ride. As soon as you power up the board, it will show up in the list of available devices on your mobile phone. When you select tunes, via your music library or an app like Spotify, they will automatically play through the speakers.
The initial connection is simple to carry out. First, switch on the hoverboard and it will beep and an automated voice will say that it is waiting for Bluetooth.
Next, go into the settings menu on your phone and select Bluetooth (make sure it is turned on) where you will see a list of available devices. The hoverboard will be there if it is switched on and has said ‘waiting for Bluetooth.’
When you see your hoverboard on the list, it will initially read ‘not connected’, click it and the phone will pair with the hoverboard. This will work with any smart phone.
Some models require you to input a Bluetooth password. This should be with the manufacturer’s instructions, but if you don’t have them to hand, it is useful to know that the default Bluetooth password on a lot of hoverboards is often 0000 or 000000.
Once you are connected, you can start creating your ideal hoverboard playlists to suit your mood.
You’ll know if your hoverboard has Bluetooth if it has speakers, as these will only work wirelessly. Also, when you purchase a hoverboard, look for one that offers a built in Bluetooth speaker. Also, a Bluetooth hoverboard will automatically try and pair with a device once it is switched on. If you don’t hear a beep and your hoverboard doesn’t announce that it is looking for Bluetooth, then it probably doesn’t have it.
How to turn off Bluetooth on hoverboard
There is no need to turn the Bluetooth off on your hoverboard – if you don’t want music from the paired device (such as your smart phone) to play though the speakers simply unpair it on your phone. To do this, find the hoverboard listed under Devices in Bluetooth. It will show as connected. To unpair it, select and disconnect.
The next time you want to play music through the speakers, just go through the process of pairing your hoverboard with your smart phone under the Bluetooth menu.
Which Bluetooth hoverboard should I choose?
At Official Hoverboard, most models come with built in speakers and Bluetooth functionality, however, you can’t go far wrong with the new Hummer G2 that has a built in Bluetooth 5.0 speaker or the Blue 6.5” Classic Disco Official Hoverboard, which has a Bluetooth speaker built in plus Sonic Bright Multicolour LED lights – you can see we call it a Disco!
